The Xiem Batmate – 12 inch (30 cm) for throwing and trimming tool is amazing!
As a potter for 30 years I was taught to either use a pottery wheel with holes in it so that I could lock in a batt with lugs, or throw a flat disc of clay on the wheel and then carve out some grooves for a batt to stick to, or when trimming to place my pot on the wheel with a few blobs of clay around the base of the pot.
When I discovered the Xiem Batmate – 12 inch (30 cm) for throwing and trimming tool I never looked back. People will tell you that a chamois will also do the trick – well, it doesn’t. I’ve tried and tested pieces of towel, chamois and silicone rubber, and nothing comes even close to this Xiem Batmate – 12 inch (30 cm) for throwing and trimming tool.
Use it by simply rinsing it under a tap and wringing it out so it’s damp. Place it on your dry or damp wheel head and spread it out with your fingers so that there are no ripples in it. Then simply place your wooden, masonite, plaster or cement sheeting batt on it and it won’t move. No need for clay blobs, lugs, grips, or otherwise. Then get throwing!
You can also easily use it for trimming or turning your pots. As above, simply place it on your wheel head and your pot on top and trim away. No need to hold your pot in place with blobs of clay which can, of course, distort your pot and we all know that clay has a memory right? Avoid any pot warping by using the Xiem Batmate – 12 inch (30 cm) for throwing and trimming. Get yours today online from Amazon.
